summers' end

man oh man, seriously what a weekend. very tiring but, very fun. went to MoS on friday night which turned out to be a bit of a bust as dj cashmoney (the man we were going to see) was in a car accident and wouldn't be performing that evening...sigh. so, spent the night the usual way, drinking 7-11 beers @ some non-descript location near MoS...hey, it beats the pants off of guting exit#4 any day o' the week. that wasn't the best part tho, far from it in fact. saturday marked a heineken beach party taking place just outside of taipei in keelung (pronounced gee-long) hesitant to head out there due to past experiences with beach parties here in taiwan, i was hooked once i heard my dearest' convincing arguments (i.e. go or i'll break up with you...jk) so glad i went...it was most likely the best night of the summer. keelung turned out to be quite beautiful at night...the event itself took place outside on the beach front of the 5 star howard hotel...for $800 NT you got in, 2 heinies and some bbq...none too shabby. the music consisted of a hiphop stage and a house stage...truly excellent tunes and we all danced the night away. later on as the sun's rays were coming up we caught a cab back to taipei...grabbed a few more beers and ordered a pizza which took forever to come. quickly ate then some much needed sleep. total amount of sleep for the weekend; 8 hours. total spent on party; $3500NT. total cost of good times had; priceless. it was exactly when and what i needed to end of the summer.

enough about the weekend. i've finally seemed to shake this funk i've been feeling for the last few weeks. guess all i needed was some good, ol' fashioned beach-party action. well, that and a new toy. that's right, i've recently upgraded my mobile to the motorola v3 and i'm in love! it has everything my last phone had, plus it has more fun features like bluetooth, flashdrive port and it has looks. it has to be said if nothing else this phone is one thing...sexy.

another thing worthy of mention...a few blogs back i talked about our holiday to thailand, more specifically the accident involving our friends wherein corey broke his leg in three places. well, although most of us would take it easy to speed our recovery, corey isn't exactly the type of guy who likes to sit around, nor does he listen very well to other's advice. so, last friday i got a call from him telling my that he has re-broken his leg. what? re-broken? wanting to see first hand what a re-broken leg looked like i went with corey and his mom to the hospital as he was to have surgery after the weekend. people, it was grotesque. about halfway down from his knee, there was a new leg joint. his 2nd ankle could bend backwards, like a rubber band. feeling the bile rise in my throat as i witnessed this obscenity, i quickly turned away and asked for it to be covered. f'ing sick. so, he's had his second operation now, is in a lot of pain (serves him right) and is on the mend. this of course is based on the thinking that he won't walk on it again...who knows tho...he's incorrigible.

works good. getting better everyday, but can i get a hallejah when the weekend arrives! i've been letting the reins of classroom control slacken in my hands more and more, just enjoying the ride with all of it's bumps. i've realized i can try to cram all the vocab, sentence patterns and phonics i want to into their little heads but if they won't have, they won't have it and i'm tired of being the angry, white man screaming his head off by the end of class. still, i know that when the contract ends, my teaching career will likely end too.

zut alors! look at the time...must be off to bed, so until next time. adieu.

SUPPLEMENTAL: just got a call from heather-lyn...apparently my last post caused quite the stir with some folks...just to let you know i lied a little about me not feeling better...i was in a dark mood the day i wrote that and things are right as rain now so please don't worry about lil' ol' me...but, it's nice to know you're reading this and care...thanks for your concern.
