getting into the groove

i've now been working @ my new job for 2 weeks now and it's been good. good, not great. working any job in taiwan means you have to hit the ground running. when i had my first day of work, i was showed my desk and given a 10-minute explanation of the computer system and then off i go! not at all like any job i've had in the in past in canada where they introduce you to the staff, show you around the office, in short aquaint you with how the job's done. the last two weeks have been spent barely keeping my head above water and it's been a little frustrating. i like the job as it's nice to be doing something i enjoy, but my boss is a little vague on the details whenever i'm assigned something to write. i know it's an editor's perogative to be critical but some direction would be fabulous. he has said he never knows what he's looking for until he sees it...a lesson i've learnt while revising a dialogue for the ninth time in a week.

it's not all bad. i've also gotten to do some broadcasting and even shot a video last week. a bit stressful as i'm rusty being in front of the mic, but i'm getting the hang of it. i shouldn't put so much pressure on myself but i have to say i miss the ease of teaching. not to say teaching itself is easy, but i had a lot of ways to teach the material and now i just need to develop this in regards to this new job. things are getting better tho. i work with some really nice people...actually had a post-work drink with them on friday and i think it went well. everyone was a little quiet at first so i tried to loosen them up by making them down some shots. after that, couldn't shut them up.

so, with all this in mind i am looking forward to the week#3 and know it's going to be the best yet.
