going to the chapel

this entry is dedicated to two of my favourite people back home...dan and heather. they're on their way to the dominican this weekend to take the leap into married life. i've known heather since i was 15 years old. we met @ a house party where she was the only girl and felt a little strange with a pack of drunken boys running around her, so we chatted and have been friends ever since.

we've shared many adventures, from our renditions of "I found Love" to driving around hanover, drinking labatt .5's with straws and the top of my VW down to designing our pinatas for the hood rats @ brentin manor. oh the lazy, hazy days of ordering a case through dial-a-bottle and going for one pitcher which lead to many at the brookside hockey rink while we watched the pylons get beaten badly. who could forget throwing expired bags of milk off our 6-storey balcony and running inside as they exploded and sounded strangely like gunshots? there have been many moments spent keeled over, crying and laughing in hilarity.

Dan was my first and coolest roommate when i moved to london in 1997. he was the older, more experienced roomie and took me under his wing as to the bar scene in the city. i was actually the one who introduced the two of them and it wasn't long before heather was living at our place most of the week. i've had my fun with dan too. our nights out to the cue and brew, having pitchers and then wondering if we should be driving back in the volvo. urging on our disgusting roommate mel to "vart" in front of our household. buying hash from her deadbeat boyfriend justin and smoking it in the shed. our constant battles over control of the remote, blinds and temperature of the house.

least we forget spitball night...making peashooters and then putting the cats on their perch so we can shoot them for hours...teasing mark by hooting through the air ducts and making him believe he was hearing things...driving by asian people and chanting the chinga-chinga song...avoiding danjiela's phone calls...convincing sheri to drive us to mcdonald's late at night...hanging out at carey's...and likely a million other things i'm forgetting about.

i'm so happy that both of you are together after all this time and that you have found your other half in one another. even though it grieves me that i can't be present on your wedding day, you both should know i'm thinking of you and that you already have the best part of this experience...yourselves.
