well, the month of sobriety is over. i'd like to say it went out with a bang, but the truth is that after a whole month of being alcohol-free i actually wasn't that keen on bombarding it with booze once more. there seemed to be this pressure to have a some sort of epic evening out on the town, but the closer it got the less appealing an idea it seemed. so, i eased myself back into nightlife again and opted for a sensible pitcher at 99 and then some cheap beers at home. not exactly the all-night rager i had anticipated but all right nonetheless.
i think it might be something akin to stockholm syndrome. it's like my sobriety was prisoner for long enough that it began to feel sympathy for its wardens. well, i have to say i've enjoyed getting sleep and still being able to do things during the day. i would like to say i've enjoyed the extra money i've saved but let's be honest...there is no extra money :) i'm a spendthrift who will find ways to spend money if its available. this month i bought rollerblades and treated myself to a lot of expensive dinners. i have missed hanging out with people and am looking forward to next weekend. last appearance of a expat indie-band called 'sonz of pablo' and the first show for some friends band altho i can't remember what they are called. should be a fun night at any rate, and then a going-away party for another friend on saturday so another fun night i'm sure
been 2 weeks now since my last puff. i decided that from now on, i'm going to get off this new year/new way of life genre my blog has taken as of late...i just haven't had a whole lot to say, so i promise i get back on board with some interesting tales soon enough...
in case you hadn't heard, we are planning on staying in taiwan for chinese new year although i'm not sure why. mostly i guess because we are trying to save our money for the big trip in the summer, but also because we've never stayed behind before. from what i hear, this place will be a ghost town. so, have a week off so thinking about taking some day trips here and there but nothing concrete yet. i wouldn't mind doing some camping if the weather holds out which has been unreal...during the day it's been sunny skies and high teens...really nice weather for taiwan during the winter...usually 3-4 weeks of steady rain.
man, i need a change of scenery...serious boring entry...reads like an email to my parents...on that note, i'll sign off and hope i can come up with some better topic for next time...or at least some snazzy photos.
