every now and then, a combination of both lack of funds along with general sick-of-it-all-ness

fills the air. this is the chasm of boredom that is left in the wake of chinese new year. money has been spent on expensive holidays abroad and too much party leaving most of us pinching our pennies until some dough has been saved up again. so, what do you do when you're trying to economise in taipei? well, i have no idea what most do but here's what i got up to.

after only two days back to the grind, we were blessed with the public holiday of 2-28. i've written about this holiday before so i won't bore you with the details, but it is usually a night of fun spent somewhere. the weather was awesome, so some of us got an early start @ the taiwan beer bar. i have been spending a lot of time there recently, most likely because the price is so cheap. kept it real by only having a few sensible beers before making the decision for the rest of the night. LTJ bukem was playing @ luxy and for the affordable price of only $300NT you could have the chance to see this world-class dj, spinning his unique brand of drum & bass. it ended up being a fantastic night of music and much of the next day was spent in recovery.

well, because tuesday turned out to be a big night, it would follow suit that the weekend would

be made to suffer. and it did. i did next to nothing this weekend. we did meet up @ carnegies on satuday for happy hour, but they tried to rip us off on the cheque, so i won't be back. still, it was cool to hang out on the patio with my good friend san miguel. after our dinner and drinks, gus' ATM card wouldn't work so we were all out money and went home. the rest of my saturday was spent eating instant curry.
so, i guess that's how i roll when faced with a keep it cheap with nothing to weekend. but the title sez, it has to happen sometimes.

yup, the taiwan beer bar rocks if you are on a budget! even if you ain't, it's still not a bad hangout, especially since there's not many places with outdoor seating in taipei city.
