crossing off the list

a couple of posts back i mentioned the fact that i only had 100 days of taiwan and that there were a few things which i wanted, nay needed to see/do before i set off. due to financial problems, i had to let spring scream pass me and although regrettable it did save yours truly an inordinate amount of dough. so, this past friday i finally got to check off one of the items on my list...i finally went up taipei 101 and got to see all of taipei in its splendor. here are some of the pics we took from the 89th floor observatory.

It was the perfect night to go and see it. The sky was clear, the air was warm and perfumed with the smell of scooter exhaust and stinky tofu. we bought our tickets and were up the tallest building in the world in about 45 seconds. in fact, i shot a short video of the ride down and you can see it by clicking the vid below.

Here are just a few of the pics that we took, but they don't even do the view justice. it was magical for lack of a better adjective to describe it.

this saturday, i'm off to a traditional chinese dance thingy at the national palace theater which is also a place i have always wanted to visit. then, next sunday i'm off to pay the deposit for the boat we've hired in danshuei for the castaway party...going to check out this old street that's a tourist trap but yet another thing i've been wanting to see. slowly, but surely the list is getting crossed off.
