yet another tardy update

i'm not even going to bother apologizing the lateness of this update...it's just late. may has been a busy month, at least professionally as my boss refuses to hire any other editors and just keeps poring on the work. i'm coping tho because the end is in sight. however, before i get to that stuff let's backtrack a little first...

my last i mentioned about the castaway part/booze cruise i had organized. it was originally scheduled for may 5th, from 8-12 but the weather had its way and it rained. not much being on a boat if all you can do is sit, crammed inside with a bunch of hot and drunk people. so, a quick call to the captain and a massive sms to partygoers later, a rain date of the following sunday was decided upon. the week went by agonizingly slow, but the weather was fair for the day and by 4:30, we set sail. in short, it was awesome. there were a few no-shows (i won't point any fingers) but enough to make it a party and a whole lot of fun. a friend spun some great tunes on his decks, lots of laughs, beer, and partly-sunny skies. it was so fun we actually paid for another hour. afterwards, we ate on the wharf and had a few more drinks before getting home around midnight.

and after that very, very fun afternoon i've been basically lying low these last two weekends. the push is on as these are my last few weeks to make and save money. i always said that when it was my turn to leave taiwan, i would have the money to enjoy my last few weeks. seen too many friends who have been in the same situation, becoming recluses just because they were freaked out about not having "enough."

a few more things i'd like to do and people i'd like to spend as much time as i can spare with...it's shitty trying to cram it all in because truth be told, it's uncertain when and where we'll do this again. i'm trying to look at the positive side of things like no work for 3 months...awesome! traveling around...awesome! but, it's not going to be easy to say goodbye...don't want to think about it too much.

on a more positive note, i treated myself and purchased a nintendo wii! it's wiicked! the only bad thing is that the O/S is in japanese, but i've muddled through and figured it out...who needs to be able to read kanji script when you've got 25+ years of vids under your belt? answer: you don't.

some special shoutouts also, something i haven't done in a while...congrats to heather and dan, who bought their third house and are moving west to nanaimo, B.C. thanks guys, that certainly throws a monkey-wrench into my plans for sponging off you while i'm in ontario..jk...it's great and i will be your first visitor. some birthdays other than mine, namely barry who i celebrated with...enjoy the poker stuff and you'd better use it...especially the hat....renate, whose birthday was on the 14th...thanks again for the tripod, it will come in very useful!
